Help us purchase, restore and protect this rare and fragile cloud forest ecosystem in Honduras.

In the south of Honduras, there exists a rare and fragile disappearing cloud forest called “Montaña de La Botija” (Mountain of the Hidden Treasure).

It is unique in that it sits on the continental divide and feeds the headwaters of both the bi-national Río Negro and the bi-national Río Coco, which is the largest river in Central America.

If protected, the cloud forest will have the chance to flourish again and supply clean drinking water to the communities below it, to be a safe haven for the biodiversity that exists and be explored by everyone.

In the south of Honduras, there exists a rare and fragile disappearing cloud forest called “Montaña de La Botija” (Mountain of the Hidden Treasure).
75% of the cloud forest has been destroyed and turned into cattle pastures and corn fields. If this continues, over 30,000 people will lose their vital water source and its incredible biodiversity will be lost forever.
